Yesterday, I stopped to help a box turtle cross the road. As I lifted him up (red eyes=male), I looked at his destination. Turtles know where they're going so you help them across the road, not back to where they came. I saw those little yellow "I've poisoned my lawn with pesticides" signs everywhere.
Another car came around the corner and stopped at seeing me in the road carrying the turtle (yay for me and yay for the turtle because the other car would surely have hit him). I shifted over about 10' to the left and walked the turtle to the next lawn - no pesticide signs. He happily agreed with my choice and walked off to live another day.
The person in the other car exhibited Good Samaritan patience.
A happy day for all except whatever had lived on that lawn with the yellow signs. Even though the spray was probably dry, there was nothing left there for the turtle.
I have to share this meme (credit in the meme itself). Apparently, it’s a good analogy. As someone who is working her way to being an old lady, I would appreciate you NOT driving me to the other end of town and dropping me in a pond. Thank you.
With love, light and awe,
Linda
